The New York Philharmonic Ensembles to Perform at Merkin Concert Hall, 10/19

The New York Philharmonic Ensembles, composed of musicians from the Orchestra, will begin its 2014-15 season on Sunday, October 19, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall, with a concert featuring Beethoven's Duo in E-flat major for Viola and Cello "with two obbligato eyeglasses," WoO 32; Glie?re's Suite for Violin and Double Bass arranged by David J. Grossman; Barto?k's String Quartet No. 3, BB 93, Sz. 85; and Thuille's Sextet for Piano and Winds, Op. 6.

The musicians on the program will be violinists Quan Ge, Lisa GiHae Kim, and Anna Rabinova; violists Vivek Kamath, and Peter Kenote; cellists Sumire Kudo, and Qiang Tu; bassist David J. Grossman; flutist Yoobin Son; Associate Principal Oboe Sherry Sylar; clarinetist Pascual Marti?nez Forteza; Associate Principal Bassoon Kim Laskowski; hornist R. Allen Spanjer; and guest pianist Yi-Fang Huang.

Since 1984 the Philharmonic Ensembles series has presented diverse programming of both classical masterpieces and modern compositions. Ensembles concerts are also offered on the Orchestra's international and domestic tours, on separate chamber music tours, and at locations throughout New York City.
