This year WNYC and WQXR continue a beloved holiday tradition with the help of an Emmy Award winner.

On Thursday, December 13 at 5pm and 7pm, the annual WQXR reading of Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL will take place in the station’s live performance venue, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space. WQXR personalities, including Naomi Lewin, Terrance McKnight and Midge Woolsey, will be joined by WNYC hosts and reporters including Robert Krulwich, Brian Lehrer, Bob Hennelly and Arun Venugopal in a version re-imagined for stage and directed by WQXR’s Elliott Forrest.

Stage and screen actor Brian Cox will star in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge.

In addition to Cox, A CHRISTMAS CAROL’s cast and crew includes A Prarie Home Companion’s touring foley artist FrEd Newman, who will shape the audio atmosphere of the production, and award-winning songwriter and composer John Forster (Into the Light, A Good Swift Kick) on the piano.

The festivities will continue through The Greene Space and onto Charlton and Varick Streets, where an outdoor viewing and listening area will be available for passers-by and hot cider will be served.
