The Emelin Theatre Announces March 2010 Performances

The Emelin Theatre has released its performance schedule for March 2010, featuring performances by Red Molly and The Kennedys and Guy Davis and Henrik Ibsen's AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE.

Red Molly and The Kennedys will perform on March 6 at 8pm as a part of the folk series. Since their inception in 2004, Red Molly has garnered a devoted fan base by having a lot of fun on stage and consistently bringing concert-goers to their feet with stunning three-part harmonies, crisp musicianship and engaging stage presence. The Kennedys (made up of the married duo of Pete and Maura Kennedy) spin their personal experiences and musical influences into acoustic-based folk, rock, country, pop and secular gospel, creating a delightful sound that's all their own. Tickets will be $25.

On March 7 at 3 pm, Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana will perform as part of the Great Traditions series. Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana is known for the unique and creative way in which it has enriched the art of flamenco, while keeping the company faithful to flamenco's powerful traditions. Commissioning new works with original choreography and music, this innovative company has actively encouraged the creativity of young artists from both Spain and the U.S. Tickets will be $40.

As a part of the Bluegrass series, Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass will perform on March 12 at 8pm. A mainstay of the Emelin Bluegrass series since its inception over 25 years ago, Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass are known for playing powerful, unadorned and intense traditional bluegrass. Carrying on the tradition he helped establish with his late father, Bob, Danny continues to be one of the most powerful, emotional singers in bluegrass, and fronts an intense, driving, irresistibly rhythmic band. Tickets will be $37.

AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE will perform on March 13 at 8 pm and on March 14 and 3 pm as a part of the theatre series. In Aquila Theatre's thrilling new production of the Henrik Ibsen classic, AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, "the strongest man in the world is the man who stands most alone." This exciting drama explores the impact of severe eco-issues on a small town and the consequences to one man of uncovering the truth. Tickets will be $40.

On March 20 at 11 am Circo Comedia will be presented as a part of the Family series. Unpredictable thrills, side-splitting comedy and daredevil stunts are the signature style of Circo Comedia starring the fantastic duo Jean Saucier & Patrick Côté of Montreal. These incredible performers blend their distinctive style of humor, acrobatic tricks, daring feats, magic and eccentricity on the Emelin stage. Tickets will be $18 for adults and $13 for children.

As part of the Comedy series, Robert Klein will perform on March 20 at 8 pm. For more than forty years, Robert Klein has entertained audiences, and he continues to have an acclaimed career in comedy, on Broadway, on television, and in film. Tickets will be $45.

Last is Guy Davis' performance on March 27 at 8 pm as a part of the Blues series. Guy Davis is a musician, composer, actor (Robert Johnson: Trick the Devil), director and writer. But most importantly, he's a bluesman. The blues permeates every corner of Davis' creativity and his music ranges from soulful, moaning out a people's cry, to playful and bouncy as a hayride. "Like the best early bluesmen, Guy Davis is, at heart, a storyteller. A master at setting intimate, richly nuanced tales..." (Blues Review). Tickets will be $25.
