THE PLANS WE MADE to Make World Premiere at Midtown International Theatre Festival
Written and directed by Dr. Danielle Bacibianco, the drama stars Lillie Schenkel and Jordyn Rubinsky at ATA.
The new drama drama, "The Plans We Made" will be presented as the centerpiece of the Midtown International Theatre Festival.
Written, directed, and produced by Dr. Danielle Bacibianco, this cinematic exploration of queer desire, addiction, and recovery will play a limited three-performance engagement from June 16 through June 22, 2026, inside the intimate Beckmann Theatre at the American Theatre of Actors (ATA) Complex.
Set inside a cramped Staten Island apartment, The Plans We Made follows Grey (Lillie Schenkel) and Aurora (Jordyn Rubinsky), two women who meet in Alcoholics Anonymous and build a fragile relationship out of shared recovery, deep desire, and the desperate hope of becoming different people together.
Because recovery is fought "one day at a time," the bond begins to fracture when Grey slips into relapse and emotional distance. As Aurora reaches for the version of the future they once dreamed of, intimacy bleeds into memory. Using fluid movement, a haunting sonic landscape, and sharp prose, the play traces the heavy rhythms of longing and queer desire. As the character Aurora profoundly notes: “Love was never the problem. It's what you always loved more.”
Performances will take place on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 7:15 p.m.; Sunday, June 21, 2026 at 11:30 a.m.; and Monday, June 22, 2026 at 6:45 p.m.
The production will be presented at The Beckmann Theatre, located inside the ATA Complex on the second floor at 314 West 54th Street in New York City.
The creative and production team includes production assistant Krista Luongo, sound designer Gary Moore, lighting designer and sound technician Tori Sliwinski, Costume Designer Nora Shvartsberg, and graphic designer Jordan Luongo.
Tickets for all performances are now on sale.
