TALK RADIO Vet Sebastian Stan Joins 'Captain America' Flick as Bucky Barnes

Variety reports today that Broadway's Talk Radio star and Gossip Girl regular Sebastian Stan has joined the The First Avenger: Captain America film as Bucky Barnes. Bucky Barnes is the sidekick to Steve Rogers/Captian America, played by Chris Evans, in the popular WWII Marvel comic book series. 

Though plot details for the film have yet to be released, in the comic book series, Bucky's fate is to become a brainwashed assassin for the Russians (under the alias Winter Soldier), and ultimately goes onto succeEd Rogers as Captain America.

The First Avenger: Captain America is produced by Marvel Studios, and in addition to Evans and Stan stars Hugo Weaving as Red Skull. Joe Johnston directs a script by David Self, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.  The film is scheduled for release on July 22, 2011.

Also on Stan's plate is co-starring alongside The Twilight Saga's Ashley Green in the Dark Castle Entertainment supernatural horror film The Apparition. Stan will play a coming of age post grad in the film who tries "to figure out his life." Greene will play Stan's girlfriend. Allegedly inspired by a true story, The Apparition focus's on a young couple haunted by a supernatural presence unleashed during a college experiment. Todd Lincoln penned the film, and also serves as its director. Joel Silver, Andrew Rona, and Alex Heineman are producing. The thriller, planned for a 2011 release in the U.S., began production in February of this year in Berlin before moving to Los Angeles in March.

Having starred alongside Liev Schreiber in 2007's Talk Radio on Broadway, Stan played the role of Carter Baizen in CW's hit series Gossip Girl, appeared in drama series Kings in which he portrayed Prince Jack Benjamin, and had a supporting role in the Anne Hathaway drama Rachel Getting Married.
