Susan Ferrara's 'Peasant' to Run at Chashama, May 3-27

Collective Past at Chashama will present the solo show Peasant, written and performed by Susan Ferrara (film Stephanie Daley, Barefoot Theater's Dog Day Afternoon, The Burial of Thebes), May 3 - 27, 2007 at Chashama Theatre (217 E. 42nd Street). Dale Heinen (Silk Road Theater Project's Caravaggio in  Chicago) directs, opening night is May 5, 2007.

Press notes state, "Peasant tells of one family's heartwarming search for the American dream. In 1926, three black-clad Italian sisters come to America with visions of electric light and Jesus and the fate of the family packed in their bags. A Dracula-loving nine-year old wants to know how they got there. As the sisters' journey unfolds, they realize that you can leave one place for another, but that you carry everything with you." The press release continues, "Writer-actor Susan Ferrara created Peasant to explore and pay homage to her Italian-American heritage. In the solo piece, she brings nine characters to life."

Performances of Peasant run May 3 - 27, 2007, Thursday through Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm, at Chashama Theatre (217 E. 42nd Street, between 2nd and 3rd Ave.; Subway: 4/5/6 to Grand Central Station). There is an additional performance on Wednesday, May 23 at 8:00 pm, and no performance on Friday, May 25 at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $15.
