Student Blog: Show Tunes for Seniors As a college senior, I know this coming year is going to fly by. Before I know it, I'll be walking the stage and tossing my cap in the air in victory.

I'll need show tunes to help me through it all. Since there's a musical for every situation, I've compiled a list of songs to describe the journey of senior year, whether you're in high school or college.

"One Perfect Moment" from "Bring It On"

Let's start this list with some optimism. This song is full of hope; it's perfect if you're dreaming of making your mark on your school before graduation. But you're just beginning; take your time. Soak in this experience and know that everything will come in its own time.

"What You Want" from Legally Blonde

You're probably applying to another school or to jobs, or you're just generally stressed. But that's okay, just remember why you're doing this. Stay on top of your "completely brilliant plan," and know that it'll be worth it in the end.

"Beautiful" from "Heathers"

At this point, you're reminded of how annoying it is to be in school. You might be tired, starting to get a little burned out with applications, school work, or other stresses. You might also be longing for simpler times when your biggest worry was being denied seconds at snack time. Those were the days, right? Take some time for yourself, and remember that there is good in the world.

"Everything Else" from Next to Normal

Burnout and depression are real. You might be listening to this song as you near graduation when Senioritis kicks in and you feel overwhelmed. It can be easy to let yourself freeze, or to do the opposite and bury yourself in your work until it's all-consuming. But remember to develop and engage in healthy coping mechanisms. You'll be alright.

"Not for The Life of Me" from Thoroughly Modern Millie

This song is for when you finally have your plan in place for next year. Maybe you've chosen a school or been hired somewhere, and you deserve to celebrate! Whether you're moving cities or staying put, you're moving on and not looking back! Adventure awaits.

"Everything I Know" from In The Heights

You're getting close to graduation, and you might be thinking of leaving home or the place you've been the last few years, particularly the people you met the way. If you're so inclined, take the time to thank your loved ones and mentors for what they taught you; otherwise, remember that everything you've been through has added up to make you the person you are now, and that's amazing. You've learned a lot. Think of your past self, and how proud they'd be to see you now. You've come a long way.

"The Great Comet of 1812" from Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812

Hear me out: this song is ideal for new beginnings. It is so wistful and brooding, yet hopeful. Remember this song as you drive away from your old school for the last time, perhaps as the sun is setting. You might feel a little sentimental; maybe you're just reflecting on how far you've come, and that's okay. Take the time to think of where you've been and where you're going. Let yourself enter "into a new life."

"Times Are Hard for Dreamers" from Amelie

Listen to this when you finally start at your new college or job. You're ready for this change. You've done the work, and you've earned this new beginning. Let yourself absorb everything as it comes; the world is at your fingertips. After all, "it isn't where [you are], it's only where [you] go from here that matters now." Take a deep breath, and think of what's in store.
