Steven Carl McCasland Is NOT AT LIBERTY At The Duplex, September 7th
Every fall, playwright Steven Carl McCasland has made it a tradition to put down the pet and get himself back on stage. And so, with his trusted sidekick and Musical Director James Horan, Steven has made The Duplex a second home of sorts. This September 7th at 7:00pm, McCasland will salute the late Elaine Stritch with a new show, titled "Not At Liberty".
McCasland is the acclaimed playwright of Little Wars, What Was Lost, Shades of Blue, 28 Marchant Avenue and more. With his theater collective, Beautiful Soup, McCasland revived Rags, Moose Murders, A Doll's Life and more for New York City Audiences. Now, with co-producer James Horan, McCasland is the Director of The Second Act Series, presenting abridged musicals that lived short lives on or off-Broadway at various concert venues across the city. The Duplex is New York's longest-running Cabaret and Piano bar, located in the heart of Greenwich Village. Although The Duplex looks like a quiet West Village corner home, there's a raucous world of great cabaret behind its French doors. Opened in the '50s in its original location across the street, The Duplex moved to its current digs in the '80s and is touted as the city's oldest cabaret theatre where the likes of Joan Rivers and Woody Allen tested out their early work. Tickets for the Friday, September 7th, 7:00pm performance are $10 ($15 at the door) and available now at https://tinyurl.com/scmnotatliberty.
