After sold-out shows at Lincoln Center and around the world this past season, Shen Yun Performing Arts returns this fall with an extraordinary new musical experience. The company's Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra will play at Carnegie Hall tonight, October 11, in a performance combining the exquisite beauty of Chinese melodies with the grandeur of a Western symphony orchestra.

Delivering a breakthrough in the world of music, the Orchestra presents a refreshing new sound, with traditional Chinese instruments like the two-string erhu and plucked pipa leading the melody amidst Western brass, woodwinds, and strings.

Shen Yun's all-original compositions are inspired by China's 5,000 years of civilization. Featuring soul-stirring melodies from different dynasties, ethnicities, and eras, they breathe new life into themes and musical styles from ancient times to present day. This year's program includes audience favorites from Shen Yun's world-renowned productions, vocal and instrumental solos, and celebrated classics from the West.

Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra will play two concerts at Carnegie Hall on October 11, as part of its 2014 annual tour. Other stops this fall will include Washington's Kennedy Center and the Boston Symphony Hall.

Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra is part of the internationally acclaimed Shen Yun Performing Arts, a nonprofit organization based in New York. Having made its international debut at Carnegie Hall in 2012, the Orchestra performs at some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world each year. Through its concerts and original compositions, the Orchestra seeks to revive treasured traditions of authentic Chinese culture, nourish positive values, and bring beauty and hope to the world.
