The Shadowbox Galleries have become a beloved addition to the experience at Shadowbox Live. The beautiful and eclectic artwork that lines the hallways leading to the theater often reflects or hints at the themes of the performance that evening. And under Curator Amy Ivanhoff's direction, new artists are being added on a regular basis.

"Regular patrons who attend nearly every show love to see if there are any new pieces in the Gallery Hallway," says Amy Lay, Art Director for Shadowbox Live, "and for brand new patrons, it's always a surprise to see the local artwork for sale."

Current Artist Showings

Eric Burden - Burden's mixed media work begins with multiple visions, focusing on the opportunity and the possible. His "subjects" are secondary in his developing work, which represents problems solved and his voice. While Burden sometimes communicates a particular message, he judges his success on the viewer's visceral response.

Gail Larned - Larned creates flowers and dioramas in monumental scale to bring an element of natural beauty and child-like wonder to the viewer. She believes that the suspension of the familiar allows one to be transported to another reality - much like a feeling of Alice in Wonderland.

Jen PoppenEtegen - Interesting and sudden juxtapositions resonate in PoppenEtegen's artwork. Nature/Culture, Sacred/Profane, and Rural/Urban are underlying currents that continue to agitate and energize her aesthetic. Her work often depicts family dynamics and spans cultures and eras.

Dwaine MacDonald - MacDonald grew up in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and after graduating with a Fine Arts degree from The Ohio State University, he now resides in German Village. His paintings vary in disciplines, as MacDonald enjoys the fun of constant learning and exploring. He also works as a commercial and residential muralist.

Linda Vierow - Photography may be an understatement of Vierow's work, which often features multiple exposures, motion blur, and texture overlays. In printing, canvas, linens, and metal are frequently used to enhance the aesthetics of the subject matter. Vierow is inspired to capture the essence of the subject with the goal of animating a photograph of everyday live by combining the nuances of movement.

An Opening Reception for the current artists will be held on Thursday, October 13 in the Backstage Bistro at 503 S. Front Street from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
