A Pier Drawn In Chalk is a play based on the mythology of women in water. Audiences join Mira, a young woman born on an island plagued by sea monsters and gifted with a voice to soothe them, as she journeys the world and discovers just how deep the ocean, and the soul, is. The play questions just how far a person can expand the power of a voice in a world sunk in fear.

We know the Little Mermaid, who sacrifces her freedom, her voice and eventually her life for a love that betrays her. But what of the wild Selkie girl, who returns to the sea? Or the lonely encantado, luring men to their deaths? Why do all of these stories center around romance and the relationship? How is it that a creature of such expanse focuses so intensely on one thing? Can we ever really be as expansive as the ocean, or must we come to terms with the idea that we are only a body in it?

Come join the cast of A Pier Drawn In Chalk as they bring to life a play which promises beautiful imagery, heart-wrenching music and a protagonist who for the love of god, just wants her mother to be happy.
