Sean Cullen's SAFE HOME Makes Its World Premiere At Women's Interart Center

Chris Henry & Royal Family Productions will present the World Premiere of Sean Cullen's SAFE HOME directed by award winning director Chris Henry. SAFE HOME will begin Friday, January 8 and open on January 14 and will initially run through January 31, 2010 at Women's Interart Center (500 West 52nd Street). Set in Buffalo, NY during the Korean Conflict. SAFE HOME is one family's timeless war story following a young boy looking for a way to finally be a man. SAFE HOME is told with love, humor and truth.

Sean Cullen (playwright) is currently playing Lt. Commander William Harbison in Lincoln Center Theater's Tony-Award-winning revival of SOUTH PACIFIC, directed by Bartlett Sher. His film credits include two recent notable works: REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, directed by Sam Mendes; and as George Clooney's brother, Gene, in MICHAEL CLAYTON, the Academy-Award-nominated (Best Picture) film written and directed by Tony Gilroy. In February, he'll appear in the new Bruce Willis/Tracy Morgan comedy, A COUPLE OF DICKS. Sean made his Broadway debut in the Tony-Award-winning James Joyce'S THE DEAD, adapted and directed by Richard Nelson. In 2007, Sean won a Drammy for Best Supporting Actor for his work as Tupolski in the Portland (OR) Center Stage production of THE PILLOWMAN, directed by Rose Riordan. Regionally, he has appeared at sixteen of the country's leading LORT theaters. SAFE HOME, Sean's first play, received its initial workshop production in 2008, at New York's CAP 21. The play has been given readings at Lincoln Center Theater, Primary Stages, and at Stanford University by The American Conservatory Theatre, after its first workshop at the Rubicon Theatre in Ventura, CA. Sean's first completed script, CITY HIGH: "INITIATION," a television pilot for a dramatic series co-created with Charles Schultz, was a finalist at the New Harmony Project. Sean is the Founder and President of The American National Theatre (ANT), Inc., an organization whose mission is "to identify and present distinguished new American plays and musicals from across the country with their original companies and creative teams at a theatre center in New York." A native of Buffalo, NY, Sean is an actor, playwright and songwriter, and a graduate of St. Bonaventure University and the Yale School of Drama.

CHRIS HENRY (director) is an award-winning professional theatre director in New York City. Henry's most recent project, based on a feature film treatment she wrote for HBO, Nobody Suspects a Butterfly, starring Anthony Rapp. An Off-Broadway version is planned in the spring of 2010. Currently, Ms. Henry is collaborating with Jazz legend Wycliffe Gordon on a new musical called Louie, Red and the Jazzman. IAN HYLAND makes his theater debut in Safe Home. Ian is a freshman at The Beacon School here in NYC. His film credits include playing Adam Sandler's son in Spanglish, The Ex, and Favorite Son. Television credits - "30 Rock," and "Human Giant." Ian has voiced the translated voice of Elian Gonzales for "60 Minutes" on CBS and has done numerous commercials and voice overs for radio and television.

Cynthia Mace originated the role of Harper in the premier production of Angels in America (Mark Taper Forum, Pulitzer Prize, Dramalogue award: Best Ensemble.) She played Stevie opposite Brian Kerwin in Edward Albee's The Goat or Who is Sylvia? (Mark Taper Forum: Ovation winner: Best Play, Garland Award winner: Best Actress, Ovation nomination: Best Actress.) Ms. Mace played Sally opposite Lynn Redgrave in the second of her family trilogy plays The Mandrake Root, and stood by for Ms. Redgrave in Nightingale at MTC. Recent local credits include The Importance of Being Earnest at the Papermill Playhouse, Lillian Hellman's The Autumn Garden for director David Jones at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Woman Before for director Daniel Fish at Here Space. Films include: Ice Bound, The Alphabet Killer, Fearless, Blast from the Past. She is the son-stalking e-mom on the Onion News Network.

Eric T. Miller -Theater credits include Sweet Storm (LAByrinth/Alchemy Theatre Co.), Betrayed (The Culture Project), Waiting (Naked Angels), Blood of the Bear (Workshop Theater), Broken Hands (NYC Fringe Festival Encore Series) and The Lieutenant of Inishmore (Florida Studio Theater). Television credits include "The Unusuals" (ABC), "Kings" (NBC) and "Law & Order" (NBC).

ERIK SAXVIK a Chicagoland native, he holds a BA from Hope College in Holland, MI and an MFA from The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. NYC credits include Nobody Suspects A Butterfly at Theatre for a New City and James Evans' Approaching America which was part of this year's midtown int'l theatre festival. His band, The Hollows, has been playing packed venues all over New York.

KATY WRIGHT MEAD is an alumnus of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and T. Schreiber Studio. Her other shows with Chris Henry are Nobody Suspects A Butterfly starring Anthony Rapp, Glory & The Juniper Queen, Your Mom's Feet and Fishbowl. Katy recently filmed Tony & Cal, a web series where she plays the check forging Amanda-Jeanine. The Graduates, Katy's first feature film has completed its successful festival and theatrical run and continues to build an audience on Hulu, iTunes, Netflix and other online outlets. She maintains her actor/producer role with The Graduates' team as they embark on their next film, The Troupe- going into production this spring. Other recent acting projects include Sonia Montez's music video for Little Jealousy, a principle role in Cynthia Hsiung's feature Are You For Great Sex and several shorts.
