So Polite, the debut EP from UK-based composer and songwriter Sasha Siem is out now on Gearbox Records. The EP will be available as a special edition vinyl and will be distributed widely via AWAL. In conjunction with the release, Siem recently appeared London at the Royal Opera House and New York City at Le Poisson Rouge on March 2. Her upcoming full length album "Most Of The Boys" is due this summer with production duties handled in Iceland by Valgeir Sigurðsson.

Recorded at Germano Studios in New York, So Polite was produced by Siem and David Kahne (Regina Spektor, The Strokes, Lana Del Ray). Mivos Quartet, a group hailed by The New York Times as an "accomplished, admirably broad-minded young string quartet," backs Siem's unique songwriting on the EP. Mivos Quartet is comprised of Olivia de Prato, Joshua Modney, Victor Lowrie and Mariel Roberts. Aldene Johnson and Tabitha Denholm, members of the team behind Florence and the Machine, carried out the artistic direction for the EP.
Sasha Siem grew up in London and began playing the cello and writing songs at an early age. Her influences range from classical and contemporary classical composers to pioneering modern singer-songwriters. She has composed music for the London Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Opera House, Rambert Dance Company, Opera North, The Aldeburgh Festival, The London Sinfonietta and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2010, she became one of the youngest people to win the prestigious British Composer of the Year award. Of her live performances, The Times (UK) noted, "Sasha is clearly a gifted musician; the ear was beguiled by her music."
