The Shakespeare Society will present Shakespeare on Film: Othello, highlighting scenes of three great actors performing the Moor on film.   The evening will take place on Monday, November 14th at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

"Three great actors tackle one of Shakespeare's most challenging roles on film. Hilton Als of The New Yorker and Jesse McKinley of The New York Times lead a discussion with Tony Award-winning actor-writer-director Ruben Santiago-Hudson as they view scenes from Orson Welles's haunting and recently restored masterpiece; Laurence Olivier's famously outrageous Moor; and Laurence Fishburne's emotional and understated power.  The evening will also boast a few surprises, including a silent Othello and a sound recording of Uta Hagen and Paul Robeson," state press notes.

Santiago-Hudson has received the Tony (August Wilson's Seven Guitars), OBIE, Audelco, Helen Hayes, Clarence Derwent, Drama League, and New Professional Theater's Shining Star Awards for his work as an actor. Rubens' autobiographical play Lackawanna Blues, which debuted at The Joseph Papp Public Theater, received OBIE, Helen Hayes, and HBO Arts Festival Awards. He recently received the Humanitas Award for Outstanding Television Screenplay for Lackawanna Blues, which garnered seven Emmy nominations for HBO.

The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College is located at 68th Street between Park & Lexington Avenues.  Limited tickets, priced at $25-$40, are available from The Kaye Box Office at (212) 772-4448.
