Audiences are going wild at the Harlem's Dempsey Theatre, where Sing Harlem Sing! brings the house down with thrilling performances of music from Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Sing Harlem Sing!, the new musical written by Vy Higginsen and directed by Ken Wydro (creators of the long running musical Mama I Want To Sing!) is currently in performances at The Dempsey Theatre (127 W. 127th Street, Between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. and Malcolm X Boulevards) through May 10th. After a summer hiatus performances of Sing Harlem Sing! will resume at the famed Harlem theater beginning October 10th.

Sing Harlem Sing! tells the story of Higginsen's groundbreaking career as New York's first black female radio disc jockey. The musical celebrates the soul-stirring power, energy and enthusiasm of the human voice and features a soulful score including gospel, R&B and rock ‘n' roll music.

New York 1 raves "Harlem sings the songs of its past in this new high energy, high decibel musical" and The Amsterdam News applauds "the musical celebrates the time when Black radio was at it's best." The New York Daily News calls Sing Harlem Sing "Vy's latest love song to black music."

Sing Harlem Sing! features a 12-person cast including Higginsen, Dejohnee Richardson, Michael Liverpool, and Ahmaya Knoelle. Choreographed by Michael Rice, Sing Harlem Sing! features musical direction by Edward Cieghorn, scenic design by Tone Baxter, wardrobe by Theta Dennis, lighting design by Christophe Pierre and a sound design by Don Holder.

The production and company comes to New York direct from a highly successful Japanese tour to Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka where the production was a critical and popular success.

"With Sing Harlem Sing!, we celebrate one of the worlds most legendary neighborhoods," says Higginsen. "An entertainment capital within the world's greatest entertainment capital, Harlem's music, culture and people are at the heart of our show. While the appeal of the show has proven universal, we knew that this show's home had to be in Harlem."

Sing Harlem Sing!, continues performances at The Dempsey Theatre (127 W 127th Street, between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. and Malcolm X Boulevards) through May 10th and then resumes performances on October 9th. Performances are Fridays, 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 4:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 4:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $35 and available at Smartix.com, 212-868-4444.
