Rory Cargill to Return to Edinburgh Festival Fringe With ON TV!
ON TV! will be performed at The Crate at Assembly, featuring Cargill as TV legend Beau Creme.
Rising comedy sketch star and online sensation, Rory Cargill is set to return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a spectacular retrospective on British television. Join TV legend Beau Creme (Rory Cargill) as he examines how British TV, it's programs and stars (also Rory Cargill) shaped 70 years of British society, as well as a look back on Beau's own storied career. The show combines live performance with period accurate filmed segments across a multi-screen set, showcasing different eras of British television. On TV! will be performed at The Crate at the Assembly from the 5th-30th August at 6.55pm where Rory will take his audience on a trip down memory lane filled with recognisable characters.
The comedy writer-performer, actor and filmmaker, creates character-driven comedy, film and live shows that often integrate technical wizardry, visual displays and intricate silly storytelling. Cargill's online sketches have amassed over 17M views online, including his Indie Boys series (co-created with Pete Rugman & Dave Durkan) with collaborations from US comedian Kyle Gordon, and musicians Kate Nash and The Hoosiers. Cargill has also appeared in an online comedy short with musician Joy Crookes. Described as "the British Chris Lilley", he has a knack for spoof, parody and versatility with characters.
Alongside his online work, Cargill has expanded his character-led comedy into film, including The Astonishing Adventures of Alfred, which screened at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival, and had its US premiere at the LA Comedy Festival. The film was also shortlisted for the British Comedy Guide Production Award.
On stage, Cargill is the creator of the variety night Something or Other, which has featured guests including Esther Manito, Ania Magliano, Fatiha El-Ghorri and Chloe Petts. His 2024 Edinburgh Fringe show Television 1, a live multimedia sketch and character piece, was hailed in a five-star Broadway World review and drew comparisons to the work of Peter Serafinowicz.
