10:30 AM
Class 1: The Physics of Play with Peter Musante

The Physics of Play: The human body exists in nature a perfect organism defined by the laws of physics. As performing artists, we're equipped with a highly-evolved, ultra-responsive instrument which all too often becomes strangled by our intellect (facts, systems, rules, techniques constructed in our desire to be right). Access to spontaneous, captivating, charismatic performance begins with respecting our senses, abandoning control and embracing play as a natural response to one's physical environment.

Using the elemental properties of nature as a guide, this course utilizes sensory-based group exercises to enhance kinesthetic awareness. Students will unleash their true uniqueness by avoiding the ego-driven "need to be clever" and engaging with the life of the room. It is this moment to moment availability that allows genuine play to flourish and fuels all our creative endeavors.

Please dress comfortably and be prepared to move.

11:30 AM
Class 2: Playing the Villain with Kitt Lavoie

On Playing the Villain
A discussion and series of script analysis and acting exercises focused on the traps inherent in playing the antagonist in a play, how to avoid those traps, and the critical ways in which refusing to play "the bad guy" makes a character all the more dangerous. An introduction to an approach for creating an expansive world and history for a character - and the ways to make that history work to create a textured, nuanced, personal, and deeply accessible performance.

12:30 PM Class 3: Monologue Coaching and Cold Readings with Jason Tyne-Zimmerman

Monologue Coaching and Cold Readings:
There's more to auditioning than just showing off your talent. Talent aside, you also need to make people want to work with you. By considering the gestalt of the audition situation, you can showcase yourself more effectively and show off your talents more clearly.

Please bring your standard audition material. A prepared monologue is recommended to attend this class.
1:30 PM Class 4: Viewpoints : How to listen to and follow your impulses with Jason Tyne-Zimmerman

Viewpoints is a vocabulary for thinking about and acting, movement, and gesture. It is not a "technique" in and of itself, but will allow you to identify internal impulses and external catalysts to enhance and support any acting technique that you already know.

Please dress comfortably and be prepared to move.
2:30 PM

Class 5: Lucid Body with Christine Maddox

Lucid Body Class Description: In this class you will learn how to release old behavioral habits in order to increase your acting range! The Lucid Body is designed with the belief that self-process is synonymous with creative process. This class will unleash the emotional and physical possibilities of the body by first drawing awareness to, and then breaking the habits that bind the posture in a fixed stance.

Combining a deep and rigorous yoga based warm-up with vocal release, students will discover areas of resistance that, once expressed and released, offer a wealth of acting material. Through the exploration of the seven chakra energy centers, students will learn how to manipulate their physical energy. By first recognizing the physical energetics of their own "type", they can develop the tools to "rearrange" their chakra centers to suit the given circumstances of a character. Improvisation will be utilized to create scenes for these new characters. You will walk out of this course arm in arm with many new parts of self that have come out to play!
