Palm Beach audiences have long been known for their refined musical tastes and high expectations. Over the decades, many of the world’s most celebrated entertainers have taken the stage at the renowned venues of this glamorous South Florida destination. We were in such a setting last night, Saturday May 9, at Glazer Hall, enjoying an entertainer worthy of its spotlight… Robert Davi.

Stepping back in time, the historic Paramount Theatre Building and then the Royal Poinciana Playhouse welcomed legendary entertainers such as Bob Hope, Barbra Streisand, Gordon MacRae, Jackie Gleason, Burt Reynolds, Bing Crosby and Christopher Plummer. “The Chairman of the Board,” Frank Sinatra, was also a familiar presence at events throughout Palm Beach in the 50’s and 60’s. Last evening, acclaimed actor Robert Davi, celebrated for his commanding “tough guy” film roles, completely won over a discerning Palm Beach audience in the historic, newly renovated Glazer Hall with his Sinatra-inspired performance.

In Robert Davi Sings Sinatra, Davi does not attempt to imitate Sinatra. Rather, he brings his own distinctive, well-trained, rugged vocal style to the music while maintaining a compelling balance of intensity and finely honed lyric delivery that had the Palm Beach supper club audience swinging throughout the night. Robert Davi is a master storyteller, sharing captivating tales from his years among Hollywood insiders. Adding to the evening’s charm, at Davi’s prompting, friend Kevin Spacey, seated in the audience, unexpectedly launched into a spot-on impression of Johnny Carson. Yes, Robert Davi sang “My Way” to end the evening, but he did it “His Way” for a packed appreciative audience and it was another entertaining glamorous night at Glazer Hall.
