Kritzerland's latest CD release, "Simply Sondheim: A 75th Birthday Salute," will have its debut at an L.A. CD release party at The Colony Theatre (555 North Third Street) in Burbank, CA, on October 23rd at 7:00 PM.

"The 2 CD set, recorded live in San Francisco, is the only complete concert recording of one of four major world-wide 2005 tributes celebrating Stephen Sondheim's 75th birthday," state press notes.

Kelly Ground, scheduled to sing at the event, is featured on the CD singing: "Children Will Listen," "Ah, But Underneath," "You Could Drive a Person Crazy," "Do I Hear a Waltz?," "Sunday In the Park With George," "Happiness," and "The Glamorous Life."

Ground originated the role of Fantine in the national tour of Les Miserables at the Curran Theatre.  She recently starred as The Iowa Housewife in Menopause, The Musical, and other credits include the national tour of An Inspector Calls and productions with San Diego Repertory Theatre, San Jose Repertory, and Sierra Repertory, among others.

The exclusive, one-night-only event "Simply Sondheim" featured Broadway star Lisa Vroman; Ground; teen cabaret star Judy Butterfield; cabaret star Amy Dondy, and other luminaries of the San Francisco Bay Area theatrical community.

It was captured on Dec. 5, 2005 and included a wealth of Sondheim's best-loved, lesser known, and, in some cases, unpublished songs, including the never-before recorded "Farewell," written for the 1971 revival of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and "I'm in Love with a Boy," written when Sondheim was 16 years old.

The concert was staged by Tom Segal and Tom Orr with Musical Direction and Supervision by Daniel Lockert, who also played piano and conducted, with Daniel Fabricant on bass and Randy Odell on drums and percussion. The concert and the CD were both produced by James Brewer for A-J Productions.

Sondheim generously consulted with the producers in  the development of the concert as well as the production of the recording

100% of the profits from the sale of this recording will be donated to The Mary Mason Memorial Lemonade Fund administered by Theatre Bay Area.
