Singer/Actress, Rachel Bay Jones, takes on eleven songs from the musical theatre repertoire on her new album, "ShowFolk," presenting them in untraditional acoustic folk and bluegrass settings.

"ShowFolk" features such modern musical theatre favorites as "Another Day" (Rent), "For Good" (Wicked), "Left Behind" (Spring Awakening), as well as standards "Little Bird, Little Bird" (Man of La Mancha) and "Gonna Build a Mountain" (Stop the World - I Want to Get Off).

"It's refreshing to hear Jonathan (Larson)'s beautiful words and music performed in such an intimate and lovely way. I'm sure he would be honored to no end to see that his work was continuing to inspire artists like Rachel." Anthony Rapp, star of the current national tour of Rent

"With this CD, Rachel takes a big step toward demonstrating that Broadway songs, with their catchy melodies and intriguing stories, can be performed in a way that would appeal to pop sensibilities as well as those of the Broadway-going crowd." David Friedman, composer/lyricist

Jones is backed up by veteran Broadway and Folk musicians, Bobby Baxmeyer (Shrek, Rent), and Sam Bardfeld ("Bruce Springsteen-The Seeger Sessions"). Other Broadway veterans lending their supporting vocals to the album include Randy Redd (Parade, Ring of Fire) and Megan McGinnis (Little Women, Les Misérables).

"ShowFolk" is produced by long-time Rent musical director, David Truskinoff, and is entirely orchestrated for such instruments as acoustic guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, accordion, upright bass, cello and bouzouki.

"ShowFolk" was released on Plum Song Records and is currently available at CDBaby.com and iTunes. For more information and complete track listing, please visit www.rachelbayjones.com
