ROMEO & JULIET At Lime Kiln Brings Young Love To Virginia 4/23

By: Apr. 10, 2009

Virginia Stage Company will present William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet at Theater at Lime Kiln, Thursday and Friday, April 23 and 24, at 7:30pm.
Drama students from Rockbridge County High School will participate in workshops and in the play at the school, thanks to a grant from the Rockbridge County Public Schools Foundation. They will also appear in both performances at Lime Kiln.

"Acting onstage with a professional company is a great opportunity for high school students," said Kim Renz, executive director of Theater at Lime Kiln. "I am thrilled that these students have 5 chances to work with this company, in rehearsal and in performance. Not only do they learn about process, they get to act in a new space in front of a different audience."

Virginia Stage Company hails from Norfolk. Founded in 1968, the company is that region's only fully-professional resident theatre company.
Renz continued, "We picked this show and this company for several reasons. Romeo and Juliet is a wonderful example of a play about issues youth face. It is a timeless piece, and we are looking to develop the next generation of talent here in Rockbridge. So giving our students a chance to work with professionals while learning about Shakespeare is a perfect mix."
Adults: $10 in Advance, $12 at the gate; Seniors $9 in advance, $10 at the gate; Students $5 in advance, $7 at the gate.

Tickets for the Thursday and Friday evening performances are available by calling 540-463-7088. For more information, go to www.theateratlimekiln.com.
