RIOULT Dance NY Launches Queens Borough Community Dance Project With FABLES RIOULT Dance NY launches the Queens Borough Community Dance Project, a new initiative, affording the rare opportunity for children who either live or go to school in Queens to rehearse and perform alongside the professional dancers of RIOULT Dance NY in a production of Fables. Performances, presented in partnership with LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, will be in the Mainstage Theatre at 31-10 Thomson Ave., Long Island City, on Saturday, May 19 at 3:00PM. Tickets can be purchased through the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center website at: http://www.lpac.nyc/event/0b047530ed7f1414f8a51134fcb675f4

Fables celebrates the timeless stories that teach lessons universally embraced by the many cultures found in the borough of Queens. Inspired by the rhythmic narrative of Jean de la Fontaine's Fables, choreographer Pascal Rioult uses the universal language of dance to bring to life familiar tales including the "Crow and the Fox', "Tortoise and the Hare", "Oak and the Reed", "Ant and the Grasshopper", and "Animals Sick with the Plague".

In this production, the 21 young dancers will gain first hand exposure to the dedication and artistry that comes with working on a professional level. They will hone their technique and performance skills and discover their artistic voice while working with their peers and the professional dancers as a group. This singular experience for the student dancers is available to them at no cost. The Queens Borough Community Dance Project is part of RIOULT Dance NY's commitment to accessibility by bringing the community to dance by bringing dance to the community.

About RIOULT Dance NY

RIOULT Dance NY, the American modern dance company with a European sensibility, is dedicated to the creation and performance of the exquisitely musical works of Pascal Rioult. The New York City-based dance company presents an annual New York season, tours internationally, conducts extensive in-school arts education and community outreach programs, and offers dance training to the public through classes, workshops, and intensives.

Education and community outreach have been integral to RIOULT Dance NY since its inception. RIOULT's arts-in-education program, DanceREACH, offers an interactive approach to introducing students to the world of modern dance. It has impacted thousands of students and community members at home, in the U.S., and abroad. Ongoing relationships with schools in New York City and the metropolitan area allow the Company to continually inspire new generations of dancers and audiences.

In the fall of 2018, RIOULT will open The RIOULT Dance Center in Astoria's Kaufman Arts District. The extraordinary new Steinway Street facility will feature fully equipped rehearsal studios and a state-of-the-art performance space with seating for over 100 audience members. The Center will afford the Company the much-desired capacity to expand its current programming and become a welcoming gateway into the dance community and a place where everyone who wants to experience the joy of dance can have that opportunity.
