REDACTED: THE COVER-UP OF A COVER-UP OF A COVER-UP to Make Edinburgh Fringe Debut with Voloz Collective
The Roswell-set comedy blends acrobatics and live music at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Voloz Collective will bring its new production, REDACTED: THE COVER-UP OF A COVER-UP OF A COVER-UP, to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Set in Roswell, New Mexico, the play follows investigative journalist Marnie Makowski as she arrives in town seeking answers about the area's long-standing association with extraterrestrial conspiracy theories. As she investigates, she encounters a butcher, a pilot, and a priest, each offering conflicting versions of an increasingly implausible story. Her search for the truth leads her through a series of escalating challenges involving government authorities, natural disasters, and a mysterious villain.
The production combines physical theatre, acrobatics, live music, and comedy in Voloz Collective's signature style. Through its exploration of conspiracy theories and competing narratives, the piece examines how people construct meaning and navigate conflicting versions of reality.
“We always make wacky shows, but this might be our wackiest yet,” the company said in a statement. “With REDACTED, we're excited to push the boundaries of our cinematic, theatrical style and give it a contemporary, true-crime edge. In today's climate, it feels more important than ever to explore what forms truth takes, and how the interplay between truth and narrative shapes the stories we live by.”
Voloz Collective is an international theatre company known for its physically driven work and ensemble-based storytelling. Previous productions include The Man Who Thought He Knew Too Much and The Life Sporadic of Jess Wildgoose, both of which enjoyed sold-out runs.
Blending comedy, movement, and mystery, REDACTED: THE COVER-UP OF A COVER-UP OF A COVER-UP examines the enduring appeal of conspiracy theories and the complicated relationship between truth and storytelling.
