R.A.W Theater Group has announced the development of ON AND ON, a new original “Dancical” created and directed by Billie King.
Inspired by the music and spirit of Curtis Mayfield and the emotional landscape of Claudine, the production is described as a movement-driven theatrical work combining dance, live music, cinematic staging, and dramatic storytelling.
ON AND ON explores themes including love, motherhood, dignity, resilience, survival, and perseverance through choreography and music rather than traditional dialogue-driven structure. According to the announcement, the production aims to transform “soul into movement and movement into story.”
King coined the term “Dancical” to describe the project’s hybrid theatrical form, which blends narrative, choreography, and emotional storytelling into a unified performance style.
The production is currently being developed by R.A.W Theater Group, the company behind BROWN BROADWAY: THE MUSICAL. A limited engagement in Los Angeles is planned for late 2026.
Additional creative team members, casting, sponsorship opportunities and production details are expected to be announced in the coming months.
