Q.E.D. will hold an opening night reception in celebration of a new installation featuring work by Queens native Domingo Carrasco on Sunday, July 29th beginning at 7pm.

Since its opening, Q.E.D.'s gallery has featured rotating artwork from local artists including photographers, painters and experimental artwork such as its most recent artist-in-residence Liquid Light Lab.

Combining his love of non-objective painting with linear figurative forms, Queens New York native Domingo Carrasco has partnered with Q.E.D to present his series of recent works. Themes & Variations is a continuation of paintings and works on paper which celebrate line, color and classical forms. This body of work attempts to idealize the human spirit whilst emphasizing Domingo's fascination with notions related to classical imagery.

Through bold line and color, Themes & Variations captures the artists' struggles as he seeks to tame the physical properties of the medium without compromising the narrative element of the work. Domingo is simplifying, exaggerating, and, at times, abstracting his pictures to evoke alternative perspectives from his audience.

Domingo is a Queens, New York native who at an early age discovered visual art was an integral part of his world. He attended the High School of Art and Design and later Queens College of the City University of New York. At Queens College his interests shifted to education were he obtained an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. Domingo's desire to pursue art once again came into play when he returned to the City University of New York at Lehman College. At Lehman College he obtained a Masters of Science in Art Education.

Domingo's artwork will be on display and available for purchase through December 2018. Art lovers are invited to stop by the venue, open 7 days a week, to browse the artwork. Be sure to stop by during QED's annual Holiday Craft Bazaar at the end of November for discounts on art in time for the holiday season!
