Twelve new plays were selected for the 2006 edition of Plays and Playwrights, the annual anthology that publishes some of the season's outstanding new off-off-Broadway dramas and comedies.  The book will be released on February 1st.

The book, as with all in the seven-year old series, is edited by Martin Denton, the editor of nytheatre.com.  Denton, a former accountant, developed the anthology series as a way of preserving and popularizing worthy plays that might not be produced again if not for publication.

This year's Plays and Playwrights will include:

The Top Ten People of the Millennium Sing Their Favorite Schubert Lieder by Alec Duffy

Burning The Old Man by Kelly McAllister

Self At Hand by Jack Hanley

The Expense of Spirit by Josh Fox

Paradise by Glyn O'Malley

Yit, Ngay (One, Two) by Michael Lew

Pulling the Lever by Rising Circle Theater Collective

The Position by Kevin Doyle

The Dirty Talk by Michael Puzzo

First Time Out of Bounds by P. Seth Bauer

Aurolac Blues by Saviana Stanescu

The Whore of Sheridan Square by Michael Baron

The book, which is set at the retail price of $17, will be available at bookstores as well as at www.barnes&noble.com and www.amazon.com.  E-mail info@nyte.org for more information.
