Jayson with a Y, a new drama by Darci Picoult, is set to run from June 1st through 24th at Theatre Row's Lion Theatre (410 W. 42nd St.), with opening night on June 13th.

The play will be presented by New Group (naked), the modestly-scaled division of the New Group that presents two new plays a season. Jayson with a Y will star Tony Award-winner Maryann Plunkett (Me and My Girl, Sunday in the Park with George), as well as Kevin Geer (Twelve Angry Men, Side Man), Marin Hinkle (Electra, A Thousand Clowns), Daniel Oreskes (Aida, Electra), Miles Purinton and Alysia Reiner.

The show concerns "two sisters in the midst of major changes in their lives, as they are forced to decide who will care for their suddenly orphaned nephew Jayson, who has Asperger's Syndrome. Though Jayson is in desperate need of a stable environment, the women and their reluctant husbands struggle with a new reality that threatens to unravel the promises they made to his mother and each other long ago," state press notes.

Adrian W. Jones (sets), Amy Clark (costumes), Russell Champa and Justin Partier (lighting) and Shane Rettig (sound) will comprise the design team.

"The New Group is an artist-driven company with a commitment to developing and producing powerful, contemporary theater. While constantly evolving, we maintain an ensemble approach to all our work and an articulated style of emotional immediacy in our acting and productions. In this way, we seek a theater that is adventurous, stimulating and most importantly "now" — a true forum for the present culture," according to the theatre's website. The company recently presented Abigail's Party and The Music Teacher, with Seth Zvi Rosenfeld and Jimmie James' Everythings Turning Into Beautiful to premiere in July.
