By:

Servant Stage Company and Lancaster Bible College are partnering to present the Broadway musical Titanic the last two weekends of September on stage at Lancaster Bible College.

"We've never done something as big as this and are excited to tackle such an epic production!" says Servant Stage executive director, Johnathan Bauer. "Titanic swept the Tony Awards when it came out 20 years ago, including best musical, best book, and best score, but because it's such a massive undertaking, it's not frequently done and a lot of people are not familiar with it. We're thrilled to be able to share it with the Lancaster community!"

The show features a cast of 67 performers (including a mix of many local professionals as well as students from LBC) along with a full orchestra. Wally Calderon is both director and choreographer and Kendra Bigley serves as music director and conductor. Sets are designed by John Whiting and costumes designed by Emily Zieger and Rebecca Bauer.

"This is nothing like the film in that it is based fully on the actual people and the actual events," says Calderon, who also serves as Servant Stage's artistic director. "There is so much history about this incredible tragedy, and so many stories and words from those involved, and I feel like this show does a great job of telling them through the dialogue, songs, and orchestral score, which is an integral part of the story telling. The music helps guide the audience through the stories and makes them feel like they're right there on the ship with them."

The show runs the last two weekends of September in the Good Shepherd Chapel at Lancaster Bible College, 901 Eden Road, Lancaster. Performances dates and times are as follows:

  • Friday, September 21 at 7 p.m. (SOLD OUT)
