The Actors' Fund's staged reading of Casablanca thrilled a capacity crowd at the Pantages Theatre on October 2nd, culminating in a standing ovation. Christian Slater as Rick and Anne Heche as Ilsa, Andre De Shields (who gave a chilling rendition of "As Time Goes By") as Sam, Edward Herrmann as Louis Renalut and John Rubinstein as Victor led a spectacular cast including Ian Abercrombie as Carl, Thora Birch as Anina, Dan Castellaneta as Ugarte, Bruce Davison as Emil, Henry Gibson as Berger, Suzanna Guzman as Yvonne, Ken Howard as Ferrari, Tom McGowan as Heinze, Hal Sparks as Jan and Michael York as the evil Major Strasser.
