Paula J. Sanders Receives Prize From TeCo's New Play Comp.

Paula J. Sanders walked away $1,000 richer on Saturday night at TeCo's 7th annual New Play Competition. The Valiant Never Taste Of Death was voted best one-act play by audience members who attended the performances over the past three weekends. Sanders is the second female playwright to win the coveted prize since its inception in 2002. The playwright received two roundtrip American Airline tickets and $1,000 cash. NEA Theatre Critic Alexandra Bonifield wrote, "The play puts a chilling face on the killer disease cancer." Incidentally, Paula also celebrated her 40th birthday on last night.

Literary Prize Winner
Willie Holmes was awarded the Literary Prize for his script Change? during Saturday nights events. Holmes received 95 points out of 100 from the Reading Committee of all the entries submitted for the 2009 New Play Competition. Change? consistently received accolades by theatre critics who reviewed the show. Holmes received a roundtrip ticket courtesy of American Airlines.
