Powerhouse comedy trio POSTMEN brings their weekly sketch/improv show to Bushwick's Cobra Club every Friday at 7:30. Carmen Christopher (Comedy Central 'Comics to Watch'), Matt Barats (Just For Laughs New Faces), and Anthony Oberbeck (IFC, Comedy Central) perform their frenzied, physical, hyper-absurdist sketch and improv show, formerly a mainstay of the Annoyance Theatre, supported by some of New York's top comedians.

Carmen, Matt, and Anthony started performing together in Chicago, and in 2014 moved to New York and helped establish Brooklyn's branch of the famed Annoyance Theatre. Most notably, they created the critically-acclaimed Holy Fuck Comedy Hour, a weekly sketch-improv-hybrid show that played to sold out audiences for two years straight. Now that the Annoyance has closed its doors, POSTMEN is bringing the same raucous, chaotic, consistently-hilarious energy to Cobra Club every Friday evening.

"Our biggest thing is we want to have fun, and we want the audience to have fun," says Anthony. "Our goal is to push an audience to that point where they're constantly surprised, constantly disoriented, and loving every minute of it."

The three members of POSTMEN, who spent years performing with Second City and iO (formerly Improv Olympic) are no strangers to creating exciting, in-the-moment, you-had-to-be-there shows, but they also back it up with a history of creating tight, professional work. Together and individually they have written, produced, and directed videos for IFC, Comedy Central, MTV, and Super Deluxe, and are currently fine-tuning their second full-length sketch show.

"We love to take risks, we love when things feel wild and out of control, but we're also serious about creating something tight and reliably hilarious," says Carmen.
Adds Matt, "We combine written and rehearsed sketches with improv, to get the best of both worlds - polished jokes and intricate premises, and the loose playful fun of an improv show."

At every show POSTMEN performs a new half-hour set of sketches mixed with improv. A diverse pool of top New York talent opens the night, including recent guests Chris Gethard (Fusion's Chris Gethard Show), Kate Berlant (Netflix's The Characters, The Tonight Show), and John Early (Search Party, The Tonight Show). Cobra Club is located at 6 Wyckoff Ave, accessible by the L at Jefferson St. POSTMEN is a weekly, ongoing show, Fridays, 7:30, and tickets are $5.
