PIRATE Ends At Powerhouse Theater

Vassar & New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater is pleased to announce the cast of PIRATE (July 21 - Aug 1), the latest among 13 new works by John Patrick Shanley to have premiered at Powerhouse since 1985. The cast will feature Bill Camp (Coram Boy, Heartbreak House, Revolutionary Road), Ivan Hernandez (Yank!, Romantic Poetry, Most Happy Fella), Charlotte Parry (Equivocation, Coram Boy, The Real Thing), and Michael Puzzo (Killing Women, Khartoum, Dirty Story, In Arabia We'd All be Kings).

This fully-staged production on the Powerhouse mainstage is a funny, provocative, and wildly theatrical tale of a guy who keeps showing up. One never knows where the Pirate may appear. But when evil makes its entrance, Pirate can usually be found.

Writer and director John Patrick Shanley has returned again and again to Powerhouse Theater ever since the initial Powerhouse season in 1985 when Mark Linn-Baker directed his Savage in Limbo. Shanley noted that the Powerhouse "audience is genius ... They know everything and you just have to listen to them."

Among Shanley's works that have had their premiere at Powerhouse are: Pirate (2010***, 2009*), Veronica (2008*) Romantic Poetry (with Henry Krieger, 2007***), Defiance (2005*), Doubt (2004*), Cellini (1998***, 1995*), Don't Forget Your Gun (1997*), The Fool and Her Fortune (1994***), The January Man (1987**), I Am Angry (1987), the dreamer examines his pillow (1986***), Welcome to the Moon (1986*), and Savage in Limbo (1985***).
