Following its developmental San Francisco Bay Area run earlier this year, LOVE SICK, the award-winning new musical, will hold an industry invite-only reading in New York on Thursday, November 16 and Friday, November 17.

Love Sick received critical and audience acclaim and garnered multiple Theatre Bay Area awards, including Outstanding Direction of a Musical (Christopher Renshaw) and Outstanding Musical Ensemble.

Directed Christopher Renshaw (Broadway: The King and I [Best Revival Tony Award, 1996], Taboo; West End: We Will Rock You, Zorro: The Musical), written by Israeli actress/writer Ofra Daniel, with music by Ofra Daniel and world-music artist Lior Ben-Hur and musical arrangements by Yuval Ron, the staged reading will include a remarkable collection of world-music artists, Broadway performers, and celebrated jazz and classical musicians, including acclaimed Palestinian musician Ali Paris, and renown flamenco guitarist and dancer, Jose Moreno.

Inspired by the ancient erotic poetry from the Old Testament known as The Song of Songs, Love Sick is a unique theatrical experience that tells the story of a mysterious love affair between a young wife in a passionless marriage and her unseen admirer. The production is being musical directed by the internationally acclaimed Paris, who has collaborated and toured with such artists as Alicia Keys and Quincy Jones, and has been seen in music festivals throughout the world.

The cast of the New York reading includes Daniel and Paris reprising the roles they originated in the Bay Area, alongside third-generation flamenco dancer/musician Jose Moreno (BAM, Carnegie Hall, and the Metropolitan Opera).

The cast also includes Jerusha Cavazos, Yassi Noubahar (The Body Politic, NYMF 2017), Lauren Mufson (Broadway: Mamma Mia), and Allysa Shorte (Broadway: After Midnight, City Center Encores: Zorba).

Love Sick is produced by John Gertz (West End: Zorro: The Musical), Randy Taradash (Off Broadway: bare) and general managed by Martian Entertainment.
