Big Apple Performing Arts announced today that the New York City Youth Pride Chorus' next show set for April 29 at The Center (The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Community Center) is WHO RUN THE WORLD!? The show explores this question through the eyes of politically engaged, talented, and passionate young people as they grapple with the concepts of control, power, and the many worlds they must navigate in daily life. The Youth Pride Chorus harnesses the power of the performing arts to engage lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight young people ages 13-22 as agents of change.
WHO RUN THE WORLD!? includes songs by Beyoncé (hence the title), Family of the Year, Foster the People, and Sarah Bareilles. There will also be spoken word pieced by and performed by members of the chorus.
"What happens when you ask a group of young people: who runs the world? Inevitably, the one question becomes many. The result is an evening of song, dance, and insight that will have you questioning your own answer to this complicated question," said Cardozie Jones, Co-Artistic Director of New York City Youth Pride Chorus.
