National Urban League Honors Corporate Leaders, 11/18
The National Urban League continues its year-long Centennial celebration of empowerment with the annual Equal Opportunity Day Awards Dinner, 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2010, at the New York Marriot Marquis.
The celebration, featuring British singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae, honors Xerox Chairman and CEO Ursula M. Burns with the prestigious Leadership Award, and MetLife with the Corporate Leadership Award. The League also will present the Youth Empowerment Awards and announce establishment of the Hall of Heroes. John Killian, Senior Vice President and CFO of Verizon, serves as chair of the Dinner.

The National Urban League in 1956 set aside November 19 as a day to focus attention on positive efforts to ensure fair and equal treatment for all citizens, and to remind Americans that the greatness of our country rests upon the principle of equal opportunity for everyone. The first Equal Opportunity Day Awards Dinner was held the following year.
