NY Philharmonic Presents SUMMERTIME CLASSICS, 6/28-7/5

The New York Philharmonic will present its eighth season of Summertime Classics,  conducted and hosted by Bramwell Tovey, June 28-July 5, 2011. The first program - June 28-30 - titled -Tchaikovsky and Other Romantics,? will offer music by great  Russian composers such as Khachaturian, Glazunov, and Borodin, with the Philharmonic  debut of pianist Kirill Gerstein performing Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1. The  second program - July 2, 4, and 5 - titled -Star-Spangled Celebration,? will feature  a -Salute to Broadway,? a suite of favorites by Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, and  Frederick Loewe; Gershwin's Catfish Row suite from Porgy and Bess; and works for  Band and Orchestra, performed by -The Commandant's Own,? The United States Marine  Drum & Bugle Corps, Major Brian Dix, director, in its Philharmonic debut, and marches  by -The March King? - John Philip Sousa.

Single tickets for Summertime Classics start at $40. All tickets may be purchased online  at nyphil.org or by calling (212) 875-5656, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through  Saturday, and 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets may also be purchased at the  Avery Fisher Hall Box Office or the Alice Tully Hall Box Office at Lincoln Center,  Broadway at 65th Street. The Box Office opens at 10:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday,  and at noon on Sunday. On performance evenings, the Box Office closes one-half hour  after performance time; other evenings it closes at 6:00 p.m. A limited number of $12.50  tickets for select concerts may be available through the Internet for students within 10 days of the performance, or in person the day of.
