After a thrilling and successful first night yesterday, the producers of the New Island Festival are forced to cancel all performances and events for today, Friday, September 11th due to weather conditions on Governors Island. During the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, the festival will present a full program from 11:00 a.m. till 11:00 p.m. There are no refunds, though Passports purchased for today will be honored on any other day of the Festival. Customers who purchased Passports with show tickets for one of today's performances may return to Governors Island on another day of the Festival and receive a ticket for another performance of the same show, subject to ticket availability. Be sure not to miss world famous Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren, bringing the dance floor to New York Harbor for a FREE dance party on Governors Island's Water Taxi Beach on Saturday, September 12th, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The New Island Festival, on NYC's Governors Island from September 10th through September 20th, brings the greatest elements of European outdoor performing arts festivals to Governors Island. It will combine works that have previously been featured in the world-renowned Dutch "Oerol" and "De Parade" festivals and provide opportunities for artists to create site-specific works on the island. All of Governors Island will be the stage for the Dutch, who will utilize the waterfront promenade, historic homes, barracks and open green spaces to re-imagine this island in the middle of New York harbor.

The New Island Festival is part of NY400, which celebrates the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's voyage from Amsterdam to New York Harbor, and commemorates 400 years of enduring friendship between the Netherlands and the United States.
