Naked Angels, in collaboration with The Culture Project will offer The DEMOCRACY Project - a collage of short plays, music and theatrical presentations written and performed by some of the country's leading playwrights and artists. This unique and timely event will take place in between the National Conventions and the National Elections, beginning performances on September 14 – October 2nd, 2004 at The Culture Project's 45 Below.

Taking place between the National Conventions and the general elections, The DEMOCRACY Project is the latest in the Naked Angles' long-running series which focus on contemporary social issues. Naked Angels asked participating artists to address the theme of Democracy in any manner they found personal, relevant or intriguing. The result will be a stimulating, multi-dimensional arrangement of their responses, interlaced with live music omit. These short pieces will be rehearsed and presented with a cast of special guests over the three week period. Each evening will be hosted by a noted figure from the world of the Arts, Politics or Academia, who will then participate in a open format about the ideas that have been presented.

Evening 2: UNTITLED by Stephen Belber; UNTITLED by John Belluso; The Art of the Practical by Doug Cordell; Cooperman & Dink by Graham Gordy; Nosotros by Hugh Murtagh; Patriot, Schmatriot by Louise Rozett

Evening 3: Reagan in Hell by Lee Blessing; Samsara by Jauana Kennedy; Medieval Scene by Kenneth Lonergan; The Arizona Rule by Pippin Parker; The Fitting by Frank Pugliese; The Least We Can Do by Andy Yerkes

Evening 4: Kandor by Tom Fontana; UNTITLED by Warren Leight; The Conductor by Eduardo Machado; White Jesus by Deidre O'Connor; PS I'm Glad You Sent Your Hair by Seth Zvi Rosenfeld.

The casts will include: Jessica Arinella, David Eigenberg, Nathan Dean Mark Margolis, Chris Messina, Tim Ransom, Ray Anthony Thomas, Toby Parker, Victor Rasuk, Kerry Washington and Dean Winters (more to be announced).

Performances begin on Tuesday, September 14 –Saturday, Oct. 2nd, September 30, 2004.

Performance Schedule: Monday – Saturday at 7PM (No Sunday's)
Evening 1: September 14 – 17
Evening 2: September 20 – 22
Evening 3: September 23 – 27
Evening 4: September 28 - October 2
