Following the success of the sixth edition ofNADA New York, NADA is pleased to announce Los Angeles-basEd Gallery Tif Sigfridsas the winner of the first NADA Member Norwegian Residency, available exclusively for NADA Members in collaboration with Unge Kunstneres Samfund (UKS). UKS is a national membership organization and an Oslo-based institution for contemporary art. UKS, whose name translates as "the young artists' society," was founded in 1921 and has been exhibiting young practices while working for the political and economical rights of artists for almost 100 years.

"We believe her prior experience with Scandinavian cultural exchange makes her an ideal match to continue her engagement with the region. Additionally, her stated openness to collaboration could be of great benefit to UKS members," said Heather Hubbs, Executive Director of NADA, and Rhea Dall, Director of UKS, in a joint statement.

Tif Sigfrid's residency will take place this May 15 - 24, 2017. Prior to opening her eponymous gallery, Tif Sigfrids spent significant time in Copenhagen where she participated in a number of projects initiated by artists that were formative to her approach in thinking about what a gallery can be.

"I'm interested in visiting Norway to gain a better understanding of the art scene there, and in particular Unge Kunstneres Samfund, in order to keep the considerations of alternative models for collective organization and presenting art in mind as my gallery continues to develop," said Tif Sigfrids. "It seems that now, during these times of national uncertainty as Americans and as cultural producers, we should all be considering our next steps with open minds to new methods."

The NADA Member Norwegian Residency offers an unparalleled opportunity to meet and connect with Norwegian artists without financial risk. It is our goal that this unique opportunity will allow a travel experience outside of market concerns to explore the Norwegian art scene, attend studio visits, and visit cultural institutions with the freedom and time to reflect and process the experience.

Submissions for the NADA Member Norwegian Residency with UKS must come directly from NADA Members. Applications are reviewed by a committee. Recipient will work with UKS to choose which artist studios to visit. Flight, accommodations, and a stipend are provided with generous support of the Royal Norwegian Consulate General New York.
