NADA Announces New York Gallery Open This March 4-10

New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA), the definitive non-profit arts organization dedicated to the cultivation, support, and advancement of new voices in contemporary art, is proud to announce the New York Gallery Open, a new initiative created to bring visitors, collectors, curators, and critics to over 50 art galleries, non-profits and alternative spaces around New York City, this March 4-10, 2019.

The New York Gallery Open is an opportunity to call attention to the many New York City galleries that are open to the public year-round by building stronger relationships with the public and cultivating new audiences both locally and internationally. Through guided tours, artist talks, performances, dinners, and VIP events, NADA aims to cultivate a renewed sense of energy, viewership and patronage within these critical spaces. NADA has also partnered with Collecteurs, a collector-driven online platform and public-benefit corporation, which will create a dedicated hub for the public to view artworks and editorial features about participating galleries.

"In some ways, New York functions like a year-round art fair. Galleries host exhibitions which are open and accessible to the public all year," said NADA Executive Director Heather Hubbs. "With the New York Gallery Open, we're placing the focus on gallery exhibitions in their spaces across the city during the March Art Week. It's in these essential places where galleries develop their programs."

In addition to New York-based galleries, NADA Members from other cities participating in the New York Gallery Open include Shane Campbell Gallery (Chicago), Golestani (Dusseldorf), L'INCONNUE (Montreal)-exhibiting across two ON CANAL spaces at 359 Canal and 361 Canal Street; Jack Barrett Gallery on 173 Henry Street, which is hosting seven out-of-town galleries, including NADA Members Good Weather (North Little Rock), LOYAL (Stockholm) and Franz Kaka (Toronto); Patron (Chicago) has an exhibition at 213 Bowery; and ltd los angeles (Los Angeles), which has an exhibition at 24A Orchard St. as part of the gallery share, Vacation.

The initiative comes as an extension of NADA's year-round efforts to support its gallery members and foster community engagement with its public. By merging the fair format with gallery exhibition programming, the New York Gallery Open harnesses the collective efforts of its participants to highlight the vitality and importance of the gallery community to the overall arts ecosystem.
