Moe-tion Dance Theater to Perform at Centenary Stage Company This Month

Centenary Stage Company will welcome Moe-tion Dance Theater to the Sitnik Theatre on June 20 for an evening of contemporary dance featuring a new work by Artistic Director Maureen Glennon Clayton.

Moe-tion Dance Theater will perform for one night only on Saturday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center.

Under the direction of Maureen Glennon Clayton, the program will include the premiere of a new work exploring the lived experiences of aging and menopause. Created through a collaborative process with guest choreographers and dancers, the piece is composed of a series of vignettes that examine change, resilience, wisdom, and the evolving nature of identity.

The concert will also feature performers from the In Motion Dance Company, bringing together artists of different generations and highlighting the role dance plays in fostering artistic growth and connection.

"This concert should speak to everyone," said Glennon Clayton. "It is a look at how life changes constantly and how the ties we find mold us into who we are. It's a celebration of how strong, creative, and important it is to connect with others and how we come to accept things throughout our lives."

Founded in 2007, Moe-tion Dance Theater is a contemporary modern dance company based in New Jersey. The company has performed throughout the tri-state area, including appearances at the DUMBO Dance Festival, Dixon Place, the Outlet Dance Project at Grounds for Sculpture, Dance New Jersey's Show Up & Dance, Rutgers University, and the Merce Cunningham Studio.

Glennon Clayton is a dancer, choreographer, educator, and founder of Moe-tion Dance Theater. In addition to directing the company, she teaches in the Gifted & Talented Honors Dance Program at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School and has developed several initiatives supporting emerging artists and expanding access to dance throughout New Jersey.Ticket Information
