Legendary stage and screen star Meryl Streep has proven her vast performing abilities in a number of noted venues, yet one thing she now attests that she absolutely will not do is sing at the Oscars - even if it is a song especially penned for her by Stephen Sondheim himself!

At a recent red carpet event in promotion of her current feature film vehicle AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, based on the acclaimed drama by Tracy Letts, Streep briefly discussed Sondheim bequeathing her with a new song for the Rob Marshall-directed film adaptation of the fairy tale-themed musical INTO THE WOODS and the likelihood of her performing it live.

When presented with the mere prospect of discussing the master composer/lyricist himself, Streep looked heavenward, intoning the godliness of the icon's reputation before relaying the amusing tale.

"He gave me the original manuscript and I said, 'Will you sign it for me?' and he said, 'Don't f*ck it up!'" the star candidly shares of receiving the newly-penned song from Sondheim.

Yet, will she sing it live on the big night, especially if the song is nominated for a Best Song Academy Award in 2015?

"Over my dead body!" the three-time Oscar-winner asserts.

The new composition for the INTO THE WOODS feature film reportedly occurs in the film's final act in a group scene incorporating the majority of the main characters, following "Last Midnight".

The confirmed complete cast for INTO THE WOODS is as follows: Meryl Streep as The Witch, James Corden as The Baker, Emily Blunt as The Baker's Wife, Johnny Depp as The Wolf, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, Chris Pine as Cinderella's Prince, Billy Magnussen as Rapunzel's Prince, Mackenzie Mauzy as Rapunzel, Lucy Punch as Lucinda, Tammy Blanchard as Florinda, Christine Baranski as Cinderella's Stepmother and Tracey Ullman as Jack's Mother, with Lilla Crawford as Little Red Riding Hood and Daniel Huttlestone as Jack.
