Comic and radio talk show host Maureen Langan brings her critically acclaimed "one woman tour de force," DAUGHTER OF A GARBAGEMAN, to Under St. Marks, 94 St Marks Place in New York City from February 21st to March 4th and to The Pit Loft at 154 W. 29th Street from March 28th to 30th. Tickets to performances at the Frigid Festival are $20, tickets to performances at The Pit Loft are $25.

DAUGHTER OF A GARBAGEMAN is a tale of Maureen's 1970s upbringing in New Jersey, in which her Irish mother and Bronx-born father, a New York City sanitation worker, told her that hard work and an education were the path to success. But is that true? How do you tell a girl to read and write when sex tapes lead to fame and fortune? When the star of The Apprentice can become the president?

In DAUGHTER OF A GARBAGEMAN, Langan lambasts today's reality show culture while revealing her parents' strengths, struggles and secrets, as well as her own, and how that made her who she is today. Maureen's "Uproarious show...challenges us to rethink the American path to success," while tapping into the hearts and frustrations of hard-working people everywhere who wonder if they, too, were raised wrong.

DAUGHTER OF A GARBAGEMAN made its international debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where the UK Daily Business called it "The most emotionally moving show this Fringe...genuine laugh-out-loud hilarity." It was followed by a year-long run at San Francisco's Marsh Theater, where it was hailed as "brilliant," earning her critic's choice for the Top 3 Solo Shows Bay Area. The San Francisco Examiner said, "Maureen is willing to be completely honest without sacrificing her killer sense of humor."

The show also has been performed in Nantucket, San Francisco, Berkeley, the Irish Writers Festival and Scotland."

As a standup comic, Maureen has performed on Broadway with Rosie O'Donnell and has opened for Steven Wright, Dennis Miller, Joy Behar and Gladys Knight. She's been featured on Gotham Live, Comics Unleashed and at festivals in Canada, South Africa, Switzerland, Ireland and the UK. She is a regular at Carolines on Broadway.

As a broadcaster, Maureen created and hosted Bloomberg TV and Radio's entertainment programming for which she was named Best Female Commentator by the Newswomen's Club of New York City. She currently can be heard on Sunday nights on KGO Radio in San Francisco hosting Hanging With Langan, a three-hour live talk show.

Maureen grew up with five siblings in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey, where there is no lake.
