'Machiavelli' to Close as Scheduled, November 5

Machiavelli, a new comic play by Richard Vetere, will close as scheduled at The ArcLight Theatre (152 West 71 st Street – Between Broadway and Columbus Avenues) on Sunday, November 5th after 6 previews and 49 performances.

The play, now directed by New Voice Theatre Company artistic director Evan Bergman, opened September 24th and also had a successful engagement Off-Off Broadway in January of this year at manhattantheatresource. 

Presented by Elizabeth Williams and Aruba Productions for San Casciano Productions, the play features Jason Howard, Stephanie Janssen, Chip Phillips, Liza Vann, James Wetzel and Lex Woutas.

Machiavelli, written in commedia style, "tells the story of how the world's most famous political thinker used his genius to survive and outsmart the ruthless Medici family while bringing democracy to Florence during the Renaissance in the 1500's," state press materials.

Sets and lighting are by Maruti Evans and costumes are by Michael Bevins.

Vetere is the author of forty plays, including One Shot One Kill, Gangster Apparel, The Engagement, and First Love. His first novel, The Third Miracle, has been made into a feature film.  Vetere is currently working on a new play, Poet on a String, about the relationship between poets Delmore Schwartz and James Agee, as well as a new novel Baroque.

The playing schedule is as follows: Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8PM with matinees on Saturdays at 2PM and Sundays at 3PM.
