Literature to Life Will Host Spring Benefits in NYC and Washington, D.C.
Events at Scandinavia House and the Edlavitch Jewish Community Center will support student education programs
Literature to Life (LTL) will host Spring Benefit events in both New York City and Washington, D.C., featuring live performances, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and more. The proceeds from both events will benefit the organization's extensive work in schools and help Literature to Life expand educational opportunities for NYC- and D.C.-area students. The New York City event will take place on Monday, May 4 at Scandinavia House and the Washington, D.C. event will take place on Monday, May 11 at the Edlavitch Jewish Community Center.
LTL is a performance-based literacy organization that presents professionally staged verbatim adaptations of American literary classics. The organization's mission is to perform great books that inspire young people to read and become authors of their own lives.
Tickets to both events are available via Literature to Life's website. Donations to support Literature to Life's work in schools are always appreciated. Contributions can be made directly through the webpage.

Founded as the educational program of the American Place Theatre more than three decades ago, LTL is now an independent 501c3 organization that carries forward the legacy of founder Wynn Handman, who championed American writers of diverse backgrounds as “voices worth hearing.” Now under the direction of Co-Founding Artistic Director Elise Thoron and Executive Director Lisa Beth Vettoso, LTL continues in its mission to bring great books to the stage and performs nationally in schools, libraries, performing arts centers, and correctional facilities.
LTL's Wynn Handman Partnership Program provides access to subsidized, high-quality arts programming to schools throughout New York City. The goal for these two upcoming benefits is to raise $30,000 in support of the program in New York City, as well as continuing to expand into Washington, D.C. schools.
“We are thrilled to once again be back at Scandinavia House and Edlavitch Jewish Community Center to celebrate another incredible year of Literature to Life programming,” says Executive Director Lisa Beth Vettoso. “We have expanded our school programming in both New York and Washington, D.C., and these special events allow us to offer them at low or no cost to participating schools. We are so grateful to our donors and attendees for their support.”
