Leon & Lulu Is Honored For Excellence By Home Accent Today Magazine

Home furnishings and design source Leon & Lulu in Clawson, Michigan, has been named one of Home Accents Today's 50 Retail Stars for 2018 by editors of the premier trade magazine for the home accents industry. Curtin was also recently (May 10) named Oakland County's Main Street Business Person of the Year.

The 50 Retail Stars list, sponsored by AmericasMart Atlanta, publishes each year in Home Accents Today's May issue. Members of the home furnishings industry are invited to suggest stores, and retailers are encouraged to submit information describing their businesses. This year's list was compiled and narrowed down by research analysts and Thomas Lester, Home Accents Today's business editor.

Leon & Lulu is owned by Mary Liz Curtin and is located at 94. W 14 Mile, Clawson, MI 48017.

The Retail Stars list, now in its 14th year, recognizes independent brick-and-mortar retailers of home accents - including furniture stores and interior design boutiques - that merchandise creatively, have a positive presence in their local communities and stand out from the competition.

"Home Accents Today's 2018 Retail Stars list showcases some of the best independent home décor and home furnishings retailers in the country," said Thomas Lester, Home Accents Today's business editor. "They are rising above the challenges of an ever-changing retail environment and are raising the bar for their innovations in marketing and merchandising strategies, customer service and community contributions. This annual honor recognizes their skills, hard work and dedication, and should serve as a reminder to us all to support local businesses."

While the majority of the Stars opened for business after the turn of the century, 18 of them have been in business since before the year 2000.

This year's Retail Stars come from 26 states across the country with New York and Indiana leading the way with four selections each. Missouri, Oregon and Florida each have three Stars while two retailers were picked from Tennessee, Kansas, New Jersey, Minnesota, Washington, California, Michigan, Virginia, Illinois, Georgia, Texas and Arizona. Nevada, West Virginia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Utah, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Hawaii and Pennsylvania each have one Retail Star in the 2018 list.
