Laughing Liberally, a new progressive political comedy show, will play Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street) on February 4, 2006 at 8:30pm, prior to a planned Off-Broadway run and national tour.

"Laughing Liberally saves democracy one laugh at a time through live performances, video & music, touring productions, and a website that hosts a Liberal Library of writings, commentary and laughs from the left. The show features up-to-the-minute commentary on the week's headlines and the state of the country as well as video and musical segments," according to press notes.

Produced by Eric Krebs, The cast of Laughing Liberally includes: Rick Overton (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, "Dennis Miller Live," "NYPD Blue"), Jim David (Bravo's "Greatest Things About Being," "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn," Comedy Central's USO Tour), Dean Obeidallah (CBS' "The Late, Late Show," "Saturday Night Live," "Late Night With Conan O'Brien"), Julie Goldman ("The Murray Hill Show, Bravo's Greatest Things About The Holidays"), Katie Halper (Stand-Up NY, The Tank, Chicks and Giggles). and Baratunde Thurston (Jimmy Tingle's Off-Broadway, Comedy Connection, 2002 Finalist in HBO's Comedy Festival).

The brainchild of David Alpert, Katie Halper and Justin Krebs, Laughing Liberally began as a set of auditions for local political comics to appear in four showcases at Stand-Up NY. Two hundred comics were seen and 40 were selected to appear in the showcases. The showcases have led to the Town Hall event, where issues from gay marriage and the American military to gun control "and the recently indicted politicians will have audiences thinking liberally while rolling in the aisles."

Tickets for the show range from $50-$15 and are available by calling (212) 730-2423 or visiting www.laughingiberally.com. Tickets can also be purchased at The Town Hall Box Office (123 W. 43rd Street) from 12pm-6pm Monday-Saturday.
