The Treatment Action Group (TAG), one of the leading worldwide organizations in AIDS research advocacy, will host its 10th annual Research in Action Awards (RIAA) ceremony on December 10th at The Drawing Center. The benefit honors individuals who have made a significant impact in AIDS research and activism.

Tony and Emmy Award winning playwright Terrence McNally will be honored for his provocative work dealing with HIV/AIDS. Author of more than 40 plays, musicals, and screenplays, Mr. McNally's newest work Deuce will open on Broadway in April 2007 with Angela Lansbury and Marion Seldes.

The RIAA Award will be presented to McNally by actor Nathan Lane, currently starring on Broadway in Butley.  Lane starred in several of McNally's groundbreaking productions.

Other honorees include Dr. Judith Auerbach, Deputy Executive Director for Science and Public Policy at San Francisco AIDS Foundation, also formerly Vice President for Public Policy and Program Development at amfAR and Dr. Donna Futterman, Director of Adolescent AIDS Programs at Montefiore Hospital, also Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Einstein College Medical Center.
 
Actress/Comedienne Jackie Hoffman will serve as MC for the Awards event. Known for her long-running cabaret The Kvetching Continues and her award-winning performance in Broadway's Hairspray, Hoffman is currently starring in Regrets Only at the Manhattan Theatre Club.

Tickets start at $150. The Drawing Center is located at 35 Wooster Street between Grand and Broome Streets. The Sunday, December 10th event begins at 6 PM.
