Lady Gaga, Google Honored at 'Trevor Live'

On Sunday, December 4, 2011, The Trevor Project honored Lady Gaga with the Trevor Hero Award and Google Inc. with the Trevor 2020 Award during "Trevor Live" presented by Audi of America and ING and directed by Adam Shankman. This high-profile event to benefit the life-saving work of The Trevor Project featured moving performances from Hollywood's most talented and entertaining performers, including Mary J. Blige,Miley Cyrus, Queen Latifah, LeAnn Rimes, Barrett Foa and the Warblers, Diego Boneta and Julianne Hough, JC Chasez, American Idol contestants Kris Allen and Stefano Langone, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, Jesse Tyler Ferguson,Darren Criss, Step up Dance, and Amber Riley.

Lady Gaga, in a moving speech delivered from the heart shared that, "I want my fans and people all over the world to know that there is always someone who is listening, but I want them to know that they are listening before it gets too late." She went on to say about The Trevor Project honor, "This award means more to me than any Grammy ever will."

Amy Poehler, joined occasionally by her husband, Will Arnett, provided levity and laughs throughout the evening as the "voice(s) of God," while talented stars Amy Adams, Zac Efron, Amber Heard, Michelle Pfeiffer and Zachary Quinto shared the challenges that bring youth to need the Trevor Lifeline. Other appearances included Fergie, Ricki Lake, Zoe Saldana andEddie Cibrian, Josh Duhamel, Dustin Lance Black, Christina Hendricks, Geoffrey Arend, Christina Applegate, Julie Bowenand Eric Stonestreet, Dianna Agron and Jayma Mays, Rashida Jones, Miss Piggy, Jane Lynch, Elton John and David Furnish, Matthew Bomer and Joe Manganiello, Harry Shum, Mark Salling, Kevin McHale, Damian McGinty, and Chris Colfer.

Before the show, Shira Lazar of WhatsTrending.com and YouTube sensation Tyler Oakley hosTed Trevor's first-ever Trevor Live Livestream of red carpet arrivals, garnering tens of thousands of online viewers worldwide.

The Trevor Hero Award honors Lady Gaga for being an inspiration to youth and increasing visibility and understanding of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) community. As an ally for LGBTQ people, Lady Gaga has recently founded the Born This Way Foundation to bravely empower youth to be proud of who they are, to accept and embrace one another's humanity, and to love themselves and one another.

The Trevor 2020 Award honors Google Inc. for the company's support of the LGBTQ community and for increasing visibility and understanding of LGBTQ issues. Google Inc. has become a leader in championing LGBTQ workplace equality over the past decade by advocating for equal policies and benefits for their LGBTQ employees, expanding the presence of their LGBTQ employee resource group globally and supporting the community and LGBTQ youth organizations.

Trevor Live presented by Audi of America and ING is the signature annual event of The Trevor Project, a recent honoree of the White House as a Champion of Change for leadership and innovation in suicide prevention. The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning young people under 24.
