Kathleen Turner and Delroy Lindo to be Masters of Ceremony at New York Live Arts 2017 Live Ideas Gala

New York Live Arts 2017 Live Ideas Gala, co-chaired by Sarah Arison, Slobodan Randjelovic, and Jon Stryker and with award-winning actors Kathleen Turner and Delroy Lindo as masters of ceremony, pays tribute to Live Arts' annual Live Ideas Festival. The Gala will take place at the Highline Ballroom, located at 431 W 16th Street, New York City on Monday, April 3 with a cocktail reception at 6:30pmfollowed by the dinner and program at 7:15pm.
The 2017 Live Ideas Award will be given to The Arcus Foundation, a change-driven philanthropy committed to reflecting diversity and engaging in global human rights. Marcelo Gomes, choreographer and Principal Dancer at American Ballet Theatre, will be honored. The evening will feature special performances by: Zebra Katz, John Holiday, Dapline!, YoungArts Alumni, and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company. "Funds raised from the Live Arts Gala are crucial in ensuring that the organization continues to fulfill its mission as a place that supports and presents artists at all stages of their careers, serves as a site for the incubation of new works, and advocates for our New York community as one of the leaders in a global conversation asking the question: who does art speak for and how?" said Bill T. Jones. "The gala will celebrate our sixth season and our commitment to future generations of artists."New York Live Arts is an internationally recognized destination for innovative movement-based artistry offering audiences access to art and artists notable for their conceptual rigor, formal experimentation, and active engagement with the social, political, and cultural currents of our time. At the center of this identity is Artistic Director Bill T. Jones, a world-renowned choreographer, dancer, theater director, and writer. New York Live Arts commissions, produces, and presents performances in its 20,000 square-foot home, which includes a 184-seat theater and two 1,200 square-foot studios that can be combined. New York Live Arts serves as home base for the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, provides an extensive range of participatory programs for adults and young people, and supports the continuing professional development of artists.
